why does this happen with size of ppt file

I have a ppt that has about 80 slides in it. 60 of them are image slides,
while the other slides are ppt created text slides, or exel charts. I kept
getting a total file size of 17mb which is too big. I compressed, etc.
So I created one presentation with just the image slides and it wieghs in at
5.4 mb, while the 20, graphic and text slides as a stand alone ppt weighs in
with a total file siz of 640kb.

Here's the puzzle, when I combine the two, instead of creating a total file
size of 6+mb, it goes back up to 17mb. Why? I've done it three times with
the same results.

I haven't done any of these things, fast saves is off, and I only have 3
undos checked and I'm saving as a power point presentation, not identifying
earlier versions.

What do you think it is. Remember that cut apart, these two files are less
than 6mb combined

Together they add 10mb

Well, poop-de-doop. I figured Fast Saves would be the culprit.

You might double-check your default PPT save option in Tools/Options,
but it sounds as if you're in the clear there, too.
What do you think it is. Remember that cut apart, these two files are less
than 6mb combined

Not a clue.

What version of PPT are you using again? I wonder if you have something
extraneous on a master slide -- or a bunch of extra masters or something
-- which would be carrying over improperly or something. This would be
in PPT 2002 (aka XP).

Hmmm. If you want to email the two files to me, I can take a look and
see if they jump in size when saved together here, too. (Actually, if
you want to try this, drop me an email and I'll send you my work email
address. I don't have a size limit on incoming files there.)

Hey echo, thanks for this help. My email can't take the extra weight, but I
can send you ftp information. I won't be working on it again until tomorrow,
so I may try to trouble shoot some other things first.

And yes, it's xp ppt.
