Why does this box show up?

I'm in My Pictures, click on copy all items to CD and this little box in the
upper left corner shows up with the choices of Copy Here, Move Here, Create
Shortcuts, Cancel. Cancel is the only choice that works. I'm wanting the
wizard to show up but instead I keep getting that little box. I don't have
an internal CD burner. I have an hp dvd writer that sits on top of my desk.
Could that be the problem? I can't seem to save anything to a cd or dvd
anymore. Thanks ahead of time for any help.

Right click on your CD drive under My Computer and click on Properties on
the opening menu. Click on the Recording tab on the opening window and click
on Enable...

I suspect the DVD burner came with software?
Can you burn a disk using it? If not...it may be
a hardware problem with the burner.

I tried that and the only tabs that show up are General, Auto Play, Hardware
and Sharing. I can't find a recording tab anywhere. Am I doing something
wrong??

If you do not have a Recording tab, the XP driver is not installed. Instead
you have software that came with the drive to copy to CD. You open this
software and then follow directions to copy. I don't know the software you
have, it may have "copy photos". If not, select "copy data" and then select
the photos you want to copy.
You can also go to the manufacturer of the drive web site and look if they
offer a driver for XP.

Hello all!

I've noticed that my CD/DVD RW drive, also an HP DVD Writer, but an internal
one, will often change back and forth to and from CD Recorder and DVD
Recorder. Whichever media I last wrote to - CD or DVD - is what the drive
shows as. The next time I want to burn files, I need to change the name of
the drive in a combo menu, as if I'm trying to burn to DVD and the drive
name is showing as "CD Recorder", it will not recognize that I have a DVD in
the drive until I change it to say "DVD Recorder".

This is in any of several burning apps that I have: Nero, Roxio Creator 8,
ACDSee Photo Pro, etc.
