Why does [SPAM] appear in Subject Line?

Googled for this, can't find it.

I am running Outlook 2002. I do not have spam filtering rules turned on. (I'm a
glutton for punishment) However, most of the e-mails I receive have [SPAM] at
the beginning of their subjuct line - even some that I have forwarded to myself
from another addy.

Outlook appends this to about 90% of the e-mails. Anyone know where it's coming
from?

Thanks!

Tony

Because your mail server or some mail server used by your senders has an
application installed that does that. Or you've installed a client anti-spam
application. It's not something Outlook does.
