I have Outlook 2003 and everytime I enter a new phone number in a contacts it
adds a 1 for long distance. I have set dialing properties to my local area
code but it still adds a 1 to local phone numbers. I have to manually remove
the 1 before saving the contact. Does anybody know what I am doing wrong?

It's probably an Outlook setting.

You can try looking for such in the Outlook options dialogs, looking in
the Outlook Help, or trying your question in the
microsoft.public.outlook newsgroup.

From what i can figure, from looking in OutLook, is the +1 that is added to
the number is the country code. You may be able to set the dialing properties
to ignore the country code when dialing the number. That's is you use the
dialer to make calls. I also, was unable to find a way to leave out or not to
have, the country code added to the numbers. Maybe the final release will
have "none" added to the country code drop down list.

In the USA you need to add the 1 when dialing outside your area code.

If Outlook is adding a 1 when dialing in your area code, perhaps you
haven't told Outlook what your area code is?

You may have better luck on microsoft.public.outlook, as BCM does not
control dialing properties.
