why does my contacts birthdays appear a day earlier?

when i open my outlook caledar i have a reminer that its someones birthday
from my contacts but its always a day out!!

If you have default reminders enabled, the default reminder for all day
events like birthdays is 18 hours.
 
The birthday is a day early or the reminder is the day before the birthday?
If the birthday is wrong, verify the date on the contact is correct. If it's
off less than 24 hrs, was it created in a different time zone?
