Why does my computer run so slow after installing BusContactUpgrd?

I installed MS Business Contact Manager Upgrade (after Office 2003 SP2) and
my computer runs at half the speed. After the upgrade I noticed an SQL
Server in my system tray and wondered if that had something to do with it.
The Windows start up sound doesn't even play all the way through. Everything
is fine after removing the upgrade. Anyone ever see this?

It was faster than BCM v1 on my machines. SQL Server is going to grab
at least 100 megabytes of ram, and more as you data increases and it
starts building indexes, and so one. If your machine doesn't have
enough memory NT will begin swapping memory pages to disk.

My system in general is not slow, but doing anything in Outlook is like
watching paint dry. Is there any way to speed it up or is it such a crappy
application that uses too many resources? I used to use Goldmine and it is
lightning speed compared to this!

Is there a way to unload it without screwing things up since I have been
using it now for a year or so?

Yes, you can uninstall BCM in the add/remove programs. You may have to
uninstall MSDE separately.

Well I have to take it all back! Installed the BCM upgrade and now it work a
lot faster, not quite as good as Goldmine (especially during downloading
emails), but much, much better. And the linking seems to have been improved.
But the email spam filters are no better, in fact they appear to be broken in
that they do not filter the Blocked senders list very well.

Thanks for you help,
Tomweb

BCM should have no affect on email (spam filters, bloacked senders
list) at all. If it does, you may have found a new bug, but its
unlikely.
