I just got XP on a laptop and have MovieMaker 2 on there..........I captured video from my video camera and made it into a movie I put on a CD. When I play it from within my computer, it's fine, but my son told me that the video pauses and skips on the CD. How do I fix this.............and does anyone know if I can save the movie that I have on my computer as an mpeg so that it can be burned as a VCD?

Just another note..........it was the first time I've ever used MovieMaker 2, and first time I every captured video.........I saved as clips since it seemed to be what I should do, without knowing if I needed to or not. Could that be part of the problem?

Cyndi,

Seems like you don't have a problem. CDs burned using MM2 can't play on DVD
players outside of computers. See the Distributing, CD and DVD burning
sections of www.papajohn.org

It probably reflects on the basic capabilities of the computer that is
playing it. You could make it easier on the computer by using a lower
quality setting when saving the movie.

This happens when it is playing on a computer, in the CD drive...it was
saved as a CD

Maybe have him copy it to the hard drive and play if there.

Does the CD play OK on your computer? Is yours more powerful than your
son's?

I will check it out on mine. I have XP and he is playing it on everything from 98 to NT....
Thanks for the help........we were thinking of converting the file on my computer to AVI then to MPEG and burning it as a VCD......might that help the quality or degrade it more?

A VCD is at the low end of video quality. Up from that is SVCD, then DVD,
then playback on your computer monitor.
