AVG version 7.9.394
Virus Definitions updated this morning.

This has been going on for the last few weeks. Each time I turn on my
computer, the hard drive runs like an olympic sprinter for 30 minutes
or more. When I check Task Manager's Process Tab, the culprit that is
eating up all the resources is avgw.exe. When I click on Task Manager's
Performance Tab, the CPU is running between 59% and 100%. I right-click
on the AVG icon in my system tray, select any command and a dialog box
pops up saying "Another process is already running."

The definition download is scheduled to occur at 9:30 AM and the
scheduled daily scan starts at 10 AM. I turn-on the computer between
5:30 and 7:00 in the morning. So what the hell is AVG doing that eats
100% of my CPU for 30 or more minutes each time that my computer boots?

My use of extra vowels had a purpose and a point that was relevant to
the topic of the message. Your use of extra letters didn't even try to
answer my question.

Maybe you have "if missed start immediatley when user logs on" ticked in
scheduler? for complete scan. Also in program settings you might want to
untick scan system areas on startup.

Turn off "scan on startup".

My computer runs at 3.5MHz and I'm proud of that
"Satan possessed my DS, or something. Yes,
that's the most likely explaination."
