When I animate text (created w/in pPoint) or equations (from MathType) in
pPoint, they quite often loose their resolution. Any suugestions to rectify
this?

I don't have an explanation as to why it happens, I just know it
does. It will also happen with animated clip art. The effect is
lessened with some animation techniques, such as using "appear"
or "dissolve" rather than "fly in" or "zoom". There's another
technique you can use, but it becomes much more time-consuming if
you have more than 10 or 12 equations in your presentation. See
my tutorial about using MathType with PowerPoint at

I don't know for sure, but I'd guess the equations are being converted to an
image for animation, but PPT's not doing a very good job at the conversion.

Maybe you can change the equation to an image yourself and see if that looks
better when animated. Copy the equation then Edit | Paste Special and choose
EMF. Also try it with PNG. Drag the original equation off the edge of the
slide so you have it if you need to make changes.
