Why do some names on a distribution list bounce as undilverable?

A few of my Contacts in Outlook bounce when included in a large distribution
list, but I can send them individual messages or include them in a smaller
distribution list.

what does the bounce error say? It's possible their server rejects mail with
too many names on it.
