Why do pictures disappear when I scroll up/down in a word doc?

when scrolling up/down in a word document, pictures disappear from view.
They are there - just hidden. It's very difficult to work with documents
this way. I just upgraded from WIN98 to XP - does that have anything to do
with it?

Yeah, it might. That sounds like you need an upgrade of your video
driver. You're probably using the one that XP supplied, and it may be
a generic one rather than one that's specific for your video board.
The one that came with Win98 might have been better, but it probably
won't run under XP -- the driver interface to the operating system is
different.

If you don't know what your video chip/driver is, go to Start >
Settings > Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager. Expand
the Display adapters item and double-click the icon under it. Click
the Driver tab to find out where the current driver came from.

You can search the website of the manufacturer for a newer driver. If
there isn't one, try reinstalling the current driver.

G'Day Walter,

I experienced this problem for quite a while last year.

It improved enormously when I updated my Video
driver.

When, for a separate reason, I reformatted my HDD
and did a clean install of Win Xp and all my Apps, it
disappeared for good.

Bottom line - it's not a Word problem but a display/
driver/Win Xp problem.
