I had the same problem as JC. My error message read: "Task
'pop3.mail.wowway.com sending reported error (0x8004210B). The operation time
out waiting for a responsed from the sending (SMTP) server. If you continue
to receive this message, contact your ISP."
It appeared while I was responding to an email, with the original message
and moving picture included with my message. It was a little over 619 kb.
This error also appeared while sending a short email as well.
This started a few days ago. I contacted my ISP, who said it was a Micorsoft
problem. I contacted Microsoft, who said it was the responsiblity of my
computer manufacturer since the product (Outlook 2003) was installed by them.
(I wish everyone would learn about the products they sell or provide instead
of giving consumers the runaround.)
I contacted Dell, who had me perform a system restore. (Before you perform
that step -- what out!) When I restored my system, it restored a component of
a program that I had recently uninstalled/deleted. It was difficult to get
rid of that component, so I had to peform a registry uninstall of the
component.)
Restoration seemed to help, but I changed the time information that you
suggested that JC alter...just in case.
By the way, no one could figure out why I got a Outlook 2002 error on my
Outlook 2003 product. (I have Windows XP, with sp2, and 502 MB of RAM)
