Why do I have no control of my MSN/Windows Mess.?

I was having a problem with Windows Messenger and MSN
Messenger opening and closing over each other, so I chose
to remove Windows Messenger - Using Jonathan's command,
but now, even though I have MSN Messenger set NOT to open
when Windows/Internet open it still starts by itself.
How can I stop this? I would really rather choose when I
log onto Messenger - which is why this all started in the
first place? Thanks J

Greetings Judi,

I assume you mean you've unchecked the 'Automatically run Messenger when I log on to Windows'
in the General tab in MSN Messenger 6 (from the Tools menu, Options)?

If so, click Start, then Run, enter "msconfig" and then click OK. Click the Startup tab, and
look for a 'msnmsgr' entry. If you see one, uncheck it and click OK. Then log out of
Windows and back in and see if MSN Messenger 6 loads.
