I have just reinstalled XP & am downloading the crital updates from
Microsoft. Why do I suddenly get a messages from my ISP that unless I click
withing 30 seconds I will be disconnected. I have what is considered to be
about the best ISP & have only been downloading for about 30 minutes? Why
would I get this message? Could it be that the connection to Outlook
Express has been idle?

Thanks in advance

In IE, Tools>Internet Options>Connections.
Highlight the connection and click Settings.
In Dial-up Settings click Advanced and uncheck the box next to
"Disconnect when Connection may no longer be needed".

Hope this helps.

Also check in control panel, network connections. Right-click your ISP
name, properties, options. Clear the box (or change the time)
indicated for hanging up if idle. Apply and okay your way out.
