Why do events on the Outlook 2007 Calendar suddenly disappear?

Ever since I updated my Outlook 2003 to Outlook 2007, I have noticed that
events on my Calendar mysteriously disappear. I put an event on the calendar
and a few weeks later, it's not there. I can't figure out what the pattern
is.

My tasks also disppear.
 
Check you auto-archive settings.

I went there first. However, it only seems to appy to the mail folders. I
have auto-archive set to 14 days and I have an archive location for actually
saving all messages. I have special archive settings for my deleted folder
so I can keep those messages for 2 months before archiving.

I don't really see a calendar archive choice.
 
Right click on the calendar folder, select properties and use the Auto-archive tab to see what you have set.

Great idea, but there is no Calendar folder. All I have are mail folders and
a calendar button. When I right click it only asks me about navigation pane
options or open in new window.

Logically, even if I had an archive setting, why would it leave some events
in the days right next to the ones which disappeared???
 
What version of Outlook are you using?

D'oh! Never mind - pays to read the subject.

If you use the all folders view, and then right click the calendar, do you see your autoarchive settings then?

When the folders are visible, all you see are all mail folders. I haven't
been able to see all folders since Outlook 2000. I have 2003 on my home
computer and 2007 at work. I can't even see all folders and right click on a
calendar folder in 2003.
 
At the bottom of the navigation pane, there are icons for Contacts, Tasks, Calendar, Mail, etc. There is also one for "All Folders." Use this view to see your Calendar folder in the folder tree.
