Why do all items in pick list print on report?

When we try to print a report from a database that uses picklists for
entering data into the Access 2003 database, the entire contents of each
picklist prints on the report rather than the item that was chosen. For
example, if the source of the information was from a newspaper, employee,
college, or unknown, all four choices print out in the report, rather than
for example newspaper. The chosen item will be highlighted, which prints out
as a black rectangle.
