Hi, I've run the subject heading through Google and only got "how can I" and
other similar hits.

For years I've had a number of files (now 264) in c:\gordon\house\computer.
Today, nothing there. But in c:\gordon\house\bigpond\computer, there they
were.

Bigpond was my ISP at one time.
I'm using XP ver 5.1 (build 2600 xpsp_sp2 rtm.040803-2158 Service pack 2)

Some months ago the same thing happened to another folder but I don't
remember the details now. My wife said something then about senility.

Could someone please enlighten me about my waywood files or is my wife right
again ☺

Hypothesis. Bigpond starts with the letter B. Computer with the letter C.
Perhaps those two folders were adjacent to one another originally.
You thought you were double clicking "computer" to open it, but instead,
you were dragging the thing (mouse moving at the same time as the
double click), and dragged it just enough to drop it into "bigpond".

The only thing wrong with this idea, is why you would not have
noticed it happening. "Computer" would disappear into thin air,
rather than open and display 264 files for you.

****Thanks Paul, I think you are right. While I usually use a single click
to open a folder the hands are not as steady as they used to be and a double
click is quite possible.

The only thing wrong with this idea, is why you would not have
noticed it happening. "Computer" would disappear into thin air,

****the original "Computer" is still there in its old location but only
contains a sub folder. I guess whatever I did opened the folder in its new
location so I wasn't aware of anything unusual.

Thanks again Paul
