Why can't windows movie maker use the source audio when saving a video. The
bitrate or something changes and it distorts with a high end raspy sound as
the resultant. This happens as soon as you drag a clip to the timeline and
play the timeline. It is very annoying and I am frustrated because I can't
seem to convert the audio to any format that windows movie maker likes. The
audio from video clips off my webcam works fine with windows movie maker. I
thiink this a fundamental flaw in the program. Virtual Dub has no trouble
matching source audio to destination audio, why can't wmm do it?

Hello,

Movie Maker can not handle bit rates less than 16

To convert an audio file's bitrate do a web search for Audigy a free and
very highly regarded program

Truthfully, I am not an Instant Expert, But I know someone who is going to
have to try a LOT harder

All material gained from other sources is duly acknowledged. No Value is
obtained by publishing in any format other peoples work

I can not find a free audigy program, they appear to all cost money starting
with Audigy 2. Also I see audigy is Creative software, a company that I am
not crazy about because of all the extra unessasary items they write into the
software. Thanks very much for your reply, I will search for a bitrate
conversion program, Bill

Thanks much, I now have Audacity and it is great, how do I extract the audio
from the video file? I see I can add audio to the video easily. Thanks
again, Bill

I'm sure this same problem is occouring for many users because many cameras
have 8 bit audio. For use with these cameras windows movie maker useless. I'm
sorry microsoft but this limitation is unacceptale, your program is lame and
extremely limited if it can't deal with multiple audio formats.
