Indeed, your disk needed the defragmentation as mine did - the scheduled
(once a week) defragmentation's result over the system drive showed up in
Windows 2000 Defragmenter about 70% in red lines (fragmented files). Even
ordering some of this mess with that defragmenter, still about 50% of the
drive's contents remained fragmented. A most sinister and annoying fact,
also, because the disk spins about 1 hour during the Vista
"defragmentation", just to remain >50% fragmented...
Something strange is going on here. My son built me this comp and put Vista Prremium on it. What I don't understand is that I cannot get any graphic display to show HOW MUCH of the disk has been defragged. Last night (right now it is 8:37 Sunday 9/9 at about 1:30 a.m. I started the defrag. It is still running right now. How do I know that? Task Manager says my two processors are both working at about 51% and ASUS ACPI Cneter is running along with the Disk Defragmenter, and because I am doing this job right now, Windows Help and Support and Windows Vista Community: Discussion is also showing. Well, be that as it may, I still would like to see a graphics display showing the defrag process as well as HOW MUCH defragging remains to be done. Microsoft! Are you listening??
