I posted a message the other day, got a question in
return, and have now tried twice to post a response and
neither one gets posted. What the heck gives??? Note that
when I hit "post a response" I get this screen which
says "Post a New Message" -- I never get a response which
says "Post a Response."

When searching this newsgroup, I see your messages on:

10/25/2003 at 12:06 PM
10/25/2003 at 9:36 PM

titled "Message rules (Outlook 2000)". So they are there. How long did
you wait after posting your message? Did you look on the same server
where you posted? It can takes many hours for a message to propogate
around the globe to the multitude of news servers everywhere. Usenet is
not the same as a chat room.

Your last message was:

"I thought I posted this reply before, so forgive me if its
there somewhere. What I mean is I make a rule saying
certain if certain words are in the body or subject of the
message I want it sent to a particular folder after it
arrives--but it doesn't happen--messages with these words
in them keep coming into my inbox. I've tried again and
again going over the rules wizard to make sure nothing is
preventing the rule from working, but it still doesn't
work. this is in outlook 2000."

Well, if it is an HTML-formatted document then don't expect that what
YOU see is what is really in the document. After all, it has been
*rendered* according the HTML code to show you what it wants to show
you. It may use ISO characters in the form "" (sans quotes) to
define characters. It may have bogus tags inserted in the text which
the HTML rendering engine will ignore because they are undefined; you
see "SEX" but the HTML code has "s<#980xi>E<66kf>X". The "text" may
actually be an inserted graphic image that just "looks" like text to
you. Your rules see what is actually *IN* the document, not what YOU
see. That's why word lists are near worthless for HTML-formatted
e-mails. They only catch spam from the newbie spam idiots.

Hi - you might want to consider using a newsreader like Outlook Express or
Forte Agent rather than the web interface to the newsgroups - it's a lot
easier to do nearly everything there, including searching, which is always a
good idea to do before you post. The Microsoft public news server is
msnews.microsoft.com and you can subscribe to as many groups as you like.
