Why can't I open an excel file with external links

I had an excel file in MS Excel SR-2 with links to external excel files on my
office computer running on Win XP. I copied over the excel files to my home
computer running Win XP as well but using MS Excel 2000 (9.0.3821 SR-1).
However, when I try opening the Excel file in my home computer, Excel opens
up and tries to load the file but then an Application exception occurs asking
me whether I want to report the problem to Microsoft. I cannot even load up
the excel worksheets on my home computer..

Is this a version issue.. should i replace my MS Excel 2000 on my home
computer with MS Excel 97 or is there a patch I need to put in for the MS
Excel 2000 version that I using (9.0.3821 SR-1). Any help on this will be
much appreciated. Many thanks.

I would certainly start but fully patching each version to the latest SP.
You will need the install CD for this. If you still have a problem post
