Why can't I customize Outlook Today?

I have just upgraded to Office 2007 from Office 2003 and I want to customize
Outlook Today. I select the relevant changes ( style, tasks etc) but it won't
save my changes.
Any help gratefully received, but please note, I am not a 'techy sort of
person, so easy to understand answers please!

Please post the steps you are taking to make the changes and any
errors/messages you receive.

Basically, you click on customize Outlook today; make the changes and click
Save changes.

Hi Francine

I have been doing exactly as you suggest - click on Customize Outlook today,
then choose folders i want displayed, select the 'Winter' style, then click
on 'Save Changes'.

The changes are applied immediately, but they are not saved so I have to
repeat it all over again the next time i open Outlook.

No errors or messages appear.
BTW, I'm using Windows XP if that makes any difference.

I would then make sure you have all your updates and create a new profile to
see if you have the same issue.

All updates are OK and I have tried several times to create a new profile
but still no luck
