I have three m/cs, two running windows 98SE networked
using a Netgeat SB105 Hub, with a workgroup name HOME.
Netgear load TCP/IP and NetBUIE, but they continue to
communicate even when I unload NetBUIE.

I have this third m/c, Dell Optiplex 3GHZ running Windows
XP Professional 5.1.2600 service pack 2600 which I have
connected to the same Hub, and have established a network
connection with groupname HOME, which works BUT I can't
see the other two m/c's.

I was advised to load NwtBUIE onto XP and all three m/c
communicated. Then this m/c startrd to run
s___l___o________w !, which I wronly attributed to the
network. (problem caused by program configered to run
Win95).

Do I re install NetBUIE , and if so how, or any I doing
something wrong when I set up this new connection?

In general, computer browser performance improves with fewer protocols or
network cards on a computer. All domain controllers must be singlehomed
computers for browsing to operate correctly. Also the computer browser is
dependent on NetBIOS. Therefore, in a mixed OS network environment (win9x,
NT, ME, W2K and XP), you should have a WINS server in a domain network and
enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP (instead of loading NetBEUI) on w2k/xp in the
home or small network.
