Why cannot I not change cookie settings?

Hello All,

I have quite a strange issue with my standard machine. When I go to help in
Office 2007, or to log in on this site, my own machine gives an error message
saying that internet cookies are diabled. But I can change security settings
in iexplorer 6. low, high, everything. Even if I choose nbo security at all,
override automatic cookie handling, whatever, no result in accessing the help
sites.
Then I thought it might have been additional blocks from anti spyware
programs, so I unloaded as much as possible, even virus scanner was switched
off. No result. Quite amazing, isn't it?
If anyboday has a clue or just much smarter then I am, please give a note on
this??
Many thanks,

I also have the same problem as you, I have tried the recommendations set
forth by jon, to no avail. I have also re-installed a clean boot to a new
hard-drive from xp pro, which included IE and outlook, and still cannot get
control of cookies...that is why I have been on this site, looking for the
answers. I had once installed IE 7 and I also have Computer Associates
Internet security suite, Updated version installed, which seems to be a
conflict with the new IE 7. My computer froze and started slowing down,
because of the conflict. I un-installed the IE 7, but I still haven't been
able to get to the bottom of the cookie controlling issues..
