I would be grateful if anyone could lead me into the right direction...

I used user level security wizard to create different access levels for
different users ... now my problem is that I can only access the database
from my desktop and not from my 'My documents'. Everytime i try to access it
from my documents it says: "You do not have the necessary permission ask the
admin...but i am the admin...Any help will be appreciated. Thankyou in
advance!!

If you secured your database correctly, it will not be possible to open
it by double-clicking the MDB file. You will only be able to open it by
using the shortcut that the wizard created. If you look at the
Properties of that shortcut, you'll see that it uses the /wrkgrp switch
to select the proper workgroup file to use with your database. Your
database will only open, when you use that workgroup file.

Does that help?

I'm sorry TC but I don't quite understand what you mean.
I havent actually created a workgroup file for this database as such! If you
can go through it in steps that would be great....Could you also tell me
where the backup copy of the database is kept? Thankyou.

Sometimes I don't either!

Access /always/ uses a workgroup file. One is created, by default, when
you install Access on the PC. The security wizard has probably created
another one for you. The wizard also probably created a shortcut for
you to open your database. Right-click that shortcut to look at its
properties. Look at the Target part. Look down through the target for
the /wrkgrp switch. That switch is followed by the full path file name
of the workgroup file that the wizard says you should use with your
secured database.

Setting up security is a complex process. There's no way I could list
the steps here. Check google for the Access Security FAQ - often
referenced in this newsgroup. Or, some of the regular posters (not me)
have instructions on their personal websites.

Could you also tell me
where the backup copy of the database is kept? Thankyou.

I believe the wizard creates a backup of your database with a .BAK file
extension.

HTH,
