why are some lines spaced out more

I see this now and then and would like to know the answer. I know its
probably something easy but I don't see it. It's not single or double
spacing because I try changing it and I can only space it more. The one I
am currently looking at, if the text wraps, it's close together, if I hit
enter, it's far apart. Why?

Have you checked the Space after setting next to the Line Spacing.
The default is usually 12pt.
Line spacing affects within the paragraph, Space after affects the spacing
betwen paragraphs.
Hope this helps

In the Format | Paragraph dialog, look at the settings for Spacing:
Before/After. If these settings are anything other than 0, then that's your
problem.

Yes, it does help, but doesn't cure. I've been using word a long time
and you can find 'differently' spaced line in just about every long
document. Don't know why, but with all the settings where they should
be, it still happens.
