Why are characters overlapping in PP?

Certain characters are overlapping in PP when I capitalize them. Only the
letters C, V, X, J, and Z. I've tried formatting the text spacing. Also,
when a collegue opens the same document, the characters appear to be normally
spaced. Not sure if it is something with my system, display, or file.
 
Which version of PowerPoint? Is a standard printer installed (it need not be
connected, but PowerPoint needs a printer driver).

Using PP 2007. I have a printer installed.

Is the printer driver the latest available and compatible with the windows
version (especially if its Vista)
