Why are appointments being deleted from the calendar?

I have turned off autoarchive because I want the calendar to keep all
appointments. The calendar now seems to be deleting all non-recurring
appoints within a week after they happen. Why is this? I amsynching with a
device but the device is already set to keep appts forever. Where is the
problem?
