Why am I redirected to a website in a different country?

I'm not sure why this happens. If I type in google.com I will be redirected
to google.fr/ and the language will be in French. The language part I can
fix, just wondering what is making go to the google site in France in the
first place.

Go to Tools | Internet Options and click Languages. Make sure English is at
the top.

Frank, Thanks for the reply. I have those settings already in place. Let me
try to explain it a little better. Using the same example, if I go google.com
it will send me to google.fr\, the text will still be in English. Also if
I'm on Yahoo.com all the text will be in English except for the ads and
banners - those will be in French.

Thanks again.

If you go to Control Panel | Regional Settings, what is selected?

I think it depends on where your ISP is located (e.g. as determined
by your IP address). I get the same thing if I use google.com,
getting redirected in my case to www.google.ca However, if I use
a full URL, especially one from a previous search, I am less likely
to be redirected. I guess they think that people who use non-specific
sites are less likely to know what they want so they try to give them
something which may be the most relevant to them based on their
location.
