Hi all,
I have an HP m260n XP MCE 2004 2.6ghz, 120gb, 2gigs ram.
I am tired of having to do a system restore every time XP
gets a bug. These are the problems I am having now..If
anyone can help, bless you....
1-Can't download tv guide data since upgrade to mce 2004.
2-I am now getting an error that says 16bit subsystem
etc...on programs that have installed fine in the past.
3-A lot of programs are 'not responding' now.
4-Word perfect productivity pack will not open and will
not "install" so I can't use wordperfect 10 or Quatro.
5- Help and support center hangs, icons on the left side
menu are gone(now it's just a little box with a red
x).Basically half of the "help and support center" has
never worked properly.
6-messages saying that my printer is not installed-HUH?-so
I had to reinstall it----same thing with my pc cam.
7-my sounds change on their own.
I paid good money for my toy so that i could have
games and other programs on it without having problems and
it seems that is all I am having. I know i am complaining
but I just don't understand all of the UNSTABILITY....Any
help would be great....Thank you.....Rich

Er I hate to point out the obvious, but you are not having any problems with
XP Pro, but rather Windows XP Media Centre Edition, try here

Greetings --

You'll have to contact HP for warranty support for all of your
problems. The OEM installation of WinXP that is installed upon MCE
PC's is heavily customized and extremely proprietary to the
manufacturer and the PC's specific components. The original WinXP
Pro, when installed upon good quality, fully compatible hardware is
extremely stable and problem-free.

Your problem lies in the fact that you purchased a poor quality
(regardless of the price you paid) system from an OEM who doesn't care
a whole lot about product quality or customer service. (HP used to
make good business-class printers and enterprise-level network
servers, but I'd _never_ own one of their "bargain-basement quality"
consumer-grade printers or PCs.)
