After I set up "user and group passward" for only one of my access database,
I found that new setup workgroup information file will effect to all the rest
of my access database.

That's correct. When you created the new workgroup information file, Access
made it the default to use for all sessions. Just use the Workgroup
Administrator to rejoin system.mdw as your default.

For your secure mdb, create a desktop shortcut that uses the /wrkgrp switch
to specify your secure mdw for that session. Its target would look like:
"path to msaccess.exe" "path to secure mdb" /wrkgrp "path to secure mdw"

Thanks Joan Wild for your quick respond. But is it possible for me to set up
the workgroup information only for one particular .mdb without effect the
rest of my access databases?

I mean, if I have total three .mdb files in my pc, and just want one .mdb to
have a certain user and group permission settings, and the rest of two .mdb
files don't need to have any security level. how to do that? and now my
problem is one workgroup information which I designed for one .mdb will
effect all of my three .mdb files. How to break the link for the other 2 .mdb
files in my pc?

Crystal, The workgroup information is not 'tied' to a mdb. It is tied to
the session of Access.

Every time you open Access, it uses a mdw file, even for unsecured
databases. Out of the box, it uses system.mdw that ships with Access, and
silently logs you in as the 'Admin' user. So it appears that all mdb files
are unsecured.

Access always has some mdw file set as the default one to use. You should
set your default as the system.mdw, using the workgroup administrator.

The for the one secure mdb, use the desktop shortcut I described earlier.
