I'm in the middle of switching my banks, from Intelligent Finance to Smile.co.uk - both online based banks.

I moved because its a pain not having any access to a branch if something does go wrong, and smile use Co-Op branches.

Has anyone had any experience with smile before, as its quite a large bank? They seem good on the phone, very friendly! :)

Anything you can do I can do also with a 'real' bank.

HSBC

;)

Have HSBC been good when you've used them? I had a strange list of criteria when looking for a bank, but I heard some good reports about smile so I went for them.

Most banks aren't too keen on students (not sure why ;))

Ah, students ...

... unruly, untidy, drink a lot & take drugs, never attend classes, run around campus on 'rag' week every week, never have any money/food/clothes, know everything there is to know and know nuffing, have no respect for elders ... etc.,

... well that is what I remember a student to be. Now considering I'm about the same age as any Bank Manager, I would also think they think the same.

:D

I've never had a problem with HSBC :thumb:

haha, you know us too well ;)

I'll pop into HSBC next time I pass the university branch and see what they have to offer. I've heard good things about them and NatWest so far, so will pick up some leaflets :)

I have a student account with HSBC,

I bagged myself a free hour driving lesson with their student account.

I also have an Abbey National Account for LiquidPulse, like to keep them seperate, that way i can track finances easier.

Personal: Barclays

Business: Natwest.

I think they're all rubbish, but a necessary evil.

Sorry to be so cynical, but they're only after making money out of you whilst conning you into thinking they're doing you a favour.

I'm thinking of switching to the Co-op, for ethical reasons.

Smile.co.uk are from the co-op, but they have a few extra features like 1% cashback on cards and a few other things.

Will see how it goes with them, and if not I'll give one of the others a try :)

Dear all

Been with First Direct since 1990 - I absolutely LOVE them to bits, never once let me down, real people and time 24/7, whenever they have (rarely) made a mistake they sort it straight away. I know they may not pay the best interest but I couldn't live without them. Whether on the phone or online, they are ace.

By the way I don't work for them and never have!

Kind regards
