I have been seeking help for the last few days on an
issue with my firewall. Microsoft tells me it's MSN.
MSN tells me it's Windows XP. I'm pretty sure it's an
MSN problem, but they don't believe that the problem even
exists.

Meanwhile, I'm sitting here with a computer that has no
firewall. How in the world do I get someone out there to
listen and actually do something?

Not knowing the details of the issue, i will go out on a limb here.

XP has a built in firewall, or you can try one like ZoneAlarm
(http://www.zonelabs.com/). they have a free version available, or you
can opt to purchase the full version (free version just does not have
access to some of the more advanced features).

Travis,

I'm sorry. I forgot to give details. I'm just so
frustrated with this. What is happening is that I cannot
modify my connection properties for MSN. I can get into
the properties and enable my firewall for any other
connection that I create. However when I right click on
the MSN connection and click Properties, nothing
happens. I can't get in to change anything - not even if
I needed to change my modem settings.

MSN tells me that my connection is corrupt or that XP is
at fault. Yet I have not had this problem when I set up
my other firewall before or anyone elses with dial-up
connections.

Thanks for your response,
Kylee

I think that someone at MSN gave you bad information. The MSN
software, apparently by design, creates a network connection that
doesn't let you access its properties.

IIRC, doesn't AOL do the same thing? seems like a security conspiracy if
you ask me. ;-)
