Hey, I forgot to include a link to where I found the best deal on the Spire
300,000 MTBF 400 Watt PS.

I spent about half an hour comparison shopping, and the best deal I found
was here:

www.shop4tech.com

$39.99 including shipping, no tax here

Do you believe *everything* you read ?

Their 600W unit is rated at 400,000 MTBF.

By extrapolation, if they made a 10,000W power supply,
it would last forever...

Maybe Spire is owned by the same company that makes Monster cables :-)

Nope. But with a 3 year warranty, it's GOT to be better than those ~$20
or so no name power supplies I was going to go with. They had MTBF ratings
of around 30,000 hours.

The big aspect that made the decision for me was the fact that I found
shipping weights listed on several websites.

Shipping weight for no name PS = 2.5 pounds

Shipping weight for Spire = 5 pounds

I've read that heavier power supplies generally use heavier duty parts,
and tend to last longer.

Actually the specs claim MTBF as 300.000 hours (12.5 days). Probably closer
to the truth than 300,000 hours (34 years).
