A repair install takes very little time.. your persistence in this will only
lead people to believe that you have no legal operating system in that you
have no way, other than a ghost image, to restore to a working computer..

You will have to accept that XP does not work like the W9X.. it is a very
different animal.. in the meantime, do you have a working computer?.. the
time it is taking you to sort this out in the way that you are, you could
have re-installed everything twice over..

Hi guyz, thx for answering.first of all,let me show you the situation i'm in:
i've said the following solutions not acceptable because it takes time.

In fact,i use norton ghost to restore a complete windows xp (multiple
programs already installed like office, photoshopetc.) on multiple
computers, everyone of them different configuration (inte, via, sis, ali, etc.)
so,u see why those options above are not acceptable.
Now,i've read somewhere that a small tool for "reset" windows xp is on the
"windows xp sp2 OEM preinstallation Kit "
i want to work with ghost wxp like with ghost w98.u see,w98 works on any pc
regardless of the configuration, after ghost completes,w98 starts to find the
new hardware and finally after restart it sees optical devices and u can
start installing only the drivers for the new components in the new
configuration.this way,i can save a lot of time (many hours if there are many
different computers).

In conclusion,i have started to write to this forum hopeing that someone
knows exactly what i want and point me in the right direction.I will wait a
few more days and see if someone knows something about this issue, and if
not,i will start to study the whole "Windows XP SP2 OEM Preinstallation Kit"
CD from start to finish. (if there is something i "hate the most" that is
such a study for this CD)

Now, I want toThank you everyone for reading and writing to my post,
Good Luck and Good Bye

So, you thought you could just create an image, restore it to multiple
machines, and it would work, but you didn't do your research, and if you
had you would know that it's not going to work like that.

The only way you are going to get all the hardware to work is to do a
REPAIR/REINSTALL on each machine.

If you are going to GHOST you should have also done a SYSPREP, but
that's only good when doing the same machine type and also has
limitations.

If you are going to try this on many different types of systems, well,
it's just not going to work.

You have answered your own question use the OEM preinstallation kit and
sysprep. Depending what options you use each computer can be made to run a
mini setup on first boot that will find the right hardware and install the
drivers. The right drivers have to be available of course. The first time
you set it up be prepared for a lot of trial and error. It took me three
days the first time I did it. Now when a new version of Windows comes out it
take me a couple of hours to prepare a new image for deployment on new
computers. You also have to limit the hardware you use to some degree.
Otherwise you have to keep updating the image so it includes new drivers.
