At last as I have predicted the truth is coming out about vista...

some people are seeing now that I was right all along...

that vista is slow and sluggish compared to xp... and that its design is in
general horrible.

reviews are pouring out all over the place...

Yet I was saying this here months ago.. lol

The vistaboy naysayers in here did not want to listen then and they don't
want to listen now.

I will use vista too with a new very fast computer though, so it can handle
all the bloat.

Why? Well since im getting a new computer anyway.. it might as well be
vista...

just for a change. But have in mind.. I will tweak it to smithereens! Its a
monstrosity as it comes out of the box.

luckily I have become an expert in performance tweaking. When I have the
time, I will share with you all what I have done.

Care to share a few links to some of these? Not disputing what you say, just
interested in reading all that is available, both good and bad, about Vista.

Look forward to that... :-)

XP was a beast out of the box when it was first released with the
hardware at the time. After tweaking and new hardware releases and SP2,
it was a lot better.

Vista will get better as more tweaks and better hardware comes out. Just
as XP did, 2000 did, 98 did, 95 did, DOS/Win3.11 did... etc... etc... :)

Thank you expert, for this valuable information.

It's just too bad that when using the same programs under Vista and Windows
XP (dual booting on same box) I see that Vista is visibly faster when
loading my major applications under Vista (thank you Ready Boost).

I noticed you left out Windows Me. Probably because it stank.....

HA! Vista is the windows Me of 2007

stick 2 usb flashdrives in your ears.. perhaps next day when you wake up
you will see the true nature of vista

:-)

You are a poor excuse at an attempt to assist anyone.

You've missed-out ME... I wonder why? ;-)

I wouldn't bother with such reviews. Just imagine how many ignorant people
are installing Vista without proper driver support then "reporting" how
horrible Vista runs.

We all need to check the "credibility" of such reports.

Ah yes, 'ignorant people' -- but imagine how many *normal* people you
are calling ignorant.

I'm not in the 'why can't we all just get along camp' -- I like an
intelligent food fight periodically. But frankly, way too often folks
here sound like Cheney versus Sharpton when both have had bad hair
days.

So what if we say that people who hate Vista are all mental retards? Jim -
you listnin' ?

Not that I would say that, but in your case - Yea maybe

What exactly are you trying to imply here?

Ignorant and normal have nothing to do with each other. I didn't say
ignorant to all things.

ig·no·rant Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[ig-ner-uhnt]
Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation -adjective

1. lacking in knowledge or training; unlearned: an ignorant man.
2. lacking knowledge or information as to a particular subject or fact:
ignorant of quantum physics.
3. uninformed; unaware.
4. due to or showing lack of knowledge or training: an ignorant statement.

If the truth hurts, CHANGE!.....or pick up a book and read.

Justin, to some folks calling them ignorant (remember, your phrase
'ignorant people' -- NOT people who are ignorant of aspects of Vista)
is pejorative.

Some folks might react and say that you are ignorant because of what
you posted.

The thing is, I believe (could be wrong here) most folks here prefer
constructive and helpful discussion, notwithstanding the plethora of ad
hominem attacks that one can observe here.

As to the topic at hand, I think for new systems, already 'pre-
screened' to address driver issues, Vista is going to be an excellent
choice.

I also think that for folks already running systems (particularly those
they purchased more than a year or so ago), moving to Vista might be
less of an obvious choice.

I suspect you also hold that view (people installing Vista (as an
upgrade mostly) without driver support are asking for trouble and
rather than blame the OS they would be well served to ask and research
first and then take action. (Gosh, one wonders what the world would be
like if politicians actually did that).

1. No need to mention Vista. Look around. Anyone that can't stay within
the SCOPE of a conversation and takes personal offense to anything mentioned
here, is a waste of time and energy.

2. Anyone that buys a technology based consumer product without researching
it is ignorant. Anyone who installs Vista without being prepared with
drivers is ignorant. Those statements do not imply ignorance of all things.
They imply ignorance towards the subject of each sentence.

Move on.

While I agree with your logic here, I suspect Microsoft folks rely in
part on revenue generated by those 'ignorant' people.

Part of the trade off (which I suspect Microsoft is willing to tolerate
along with the revenue) is that we'll see screeds from people here and
counter battery fire from folks who think users should know better.

Having read this newsgroup for a short while, it is apparent that at
least this specific newsgroup is something of a free fire zone. That's
something I need to 'live with' and move on about.

That's right. We both fired, moving on.

Stay away from ignorant reviews. Make sure you only read from respectable
sources.

Have no idea about what some of the haters are talking about. Upgraded three
systems already and had zero issues with drivers, programs ... nothing. Been
the best upgrade I have ever done.
