alt.comp.freeware is wildly popular .. granted.

However, the majority of users are PC-oriented, and other operating
systems such as Linux and Mac are getting lost in the shuffle.

Somebody with a bit of time available needs to volunteer to handle
this project through to the end .. starting here:

http://nylon.net/alt/newgroup.htm#Justification

We need at least one, and preferably two branches of a.c.f. .. to wit:

alt.comp.freeware.linux and alt.comp.freeware.mac

Any takers?

Why should we assume that acf is windows only?

We should need these also :

alt.comp.freeware.windows
alt.comp.freeware.handhelds

Why do we need a linux freeware group? Go to any linux newsgroup and
ask about the mostly free/open source software.

I guess the best answer would be .. because a lot of Linux
material crops up in a.c.f. As for the other Linux groups, why
don't the Linux aficianados stick to those? Everything would be
much more orderly, I should think, if everyone was on the
same page with material dealing with an interest at hand .. no?
There seems to be no second-guessing that a.c.f. is 99% PC world.

Wouldn't it be better if there were a specific a.c.f.l. ? ... a.c.f.m. ?
