I am going to be building a system after the holidays and wonder if anyone
has any recommendations as to who to buy the motherboard/cpu/memory from? I
have checked out Motherboards.com and MonarchComputer.com and prices are
similar. Any other companies anyone would recommend? Thanks.

I've had good luck recently with newegg.com

Before buying on-line, check with http://resellerratings.com/

Would this not relate to where in the world you live???
Sure I could go to the trouble of looking at your message headers to find out
your from the states but should I have to??

I suggest MonarhComputer.com. I bought a lot of stuff from them recenty
and I was very happy with the customer service and products. I do not
reccomend newegg.com as they have a new advertising campaign (page 017
or the December 2004 MobilePC magazine) out that suggests people use
their local computer store and sales people to find out about products
and then it suggests that they go and order the product through
newegg.com. I am just not in favor of using someone like that or
promoting that.

These days, I generally go with

newegg.com
mwave.com
zipzoomfly.com

Whomever has the best total price (including shipping, which can add up
if you buy items from several places).

Thanks to all for your input. It was very revealing and helpful. New Egg
had the most voted.

You should check out their return policy and current ratings on
resellerratings.com.

I've never done business with NewEgg, but I've seen issues where people
have been send used/returned parts thinking they were buying new. I have
no connection to any vendor, but I've never had a bad experience with
any vendor that was rated high in the resellerratings.com site.

Hi,

Another vote for Newegg. Watch for daily deals because they often pay
for 3 day shipping on anything you pick up that way. Check thier
manufacturer rebate page too. I put together a system last summer and
spread all the parts orders out over 2 weeks and got all but one item
on a daily deal. Cool, no shipping costs and excellent prices on all!
I have only had one instance where a device seemed to be defective and
they took care of it immediately. No hassle, no issues. As has been
posted in another comment, check out anyone you order from at
http://www.resellerratings.com/ before handing out your credit card
number. It can save you from a nightmare mail order experience...
(Anyone remember "Sir Computers"????????)

Regards,

Ender
