White screen while attempting to play video in Power Point

When running the slide show the video appears as a white
screen. If you right click on the video, then click play
movie, the system seems to respond and it thinks it is
playing the movie. So, the slide show sees the movie
file, but it is appearing as a white screen.
 
It could be that you need to update your video driver (see the
manufacturer's website) or update DirectX from the Microsoft site. However,
if neither of those steps helps, it could also be that the movie file will
not run in the MCI player from within PowerPoint because of how it was
created. What is the file type of the movie file? Did you create the file
yourself? If so, what software did you use?
