White screen on bootup - not BSOD!

Well, to be different, when I booted up this afternoon all I saw was a
*white* screen.

absolutely nothing on it! Had been using the computer earlier in the
morning and to all intens and purposes all was well when I shut down.
The mouse wouldn't work either.

Tried pushing the monitor button in and out and still the white screen
remained.

Took a re-boot for things to come back to normal again.

Would anyone have the faintest idea what might have caused that to
happen please? Rather odd.

Computer is three years old - 20 gigs h.d., and 300 odd of RAM.

Cheers, Ruth.

Hi Ruth.

I could do with some more information to confirm just what
has taken place. Are there any events in the application
and system log relative to the time this 'hang' happened?

Can you also confirm which version of windows you are
running and what service pack it is on. This information
is available by right mouse clicking on my computer and
selecting properties.

Thanks Simon for replying. I am using Win2000 Pro, Service Pack 3.

Not sure, where to look for the above!

The situation hasn't occurred again.

Thanks, Ruth.
