White line on boot?

On every build I've done so far, I've had a white progress bar on
boot. On my latest one, I've not got that, I just get a blank black
screen (or windows startup screens if I take off the noguiboot) and I
can't see what I've changed. Anyone got any ideas?
 
I don't have a definitive answer, but I've noticed that the slower the
machine, the more likely the odds of seeing a white progress bar.

So, did you make any changes to speed things up?

Nothing more to add here except my observations support what Dean said.
 
....Yes, it's a core 2 duo with 2GB of RAM replacing a Celery with
512... I shall explain this to the shouty chap downstairs, who insists
our engineers will assume a completely blank screen means it's broken,
but who doesn't want the windows startup screens...
