White Boxs With Red X's

I get white boxes with red x's in the middle where ever
there should be graphics on a web page. How can I fix it?

get anyone to help me fix it, but I discovered if you
check your encoding (view) make sure it is on windows,
mine defaults to western european iso every time I look at
a different page! Painfull but it works!
