Toshiba Satellite Pro 100 laptop, Windows XP Professional.

When i turned PC on this AM, there is a 3 cm, vertical white band on the
screen. Was ok last night.
Tried re starting, no go. Lately the PC has been freezing not sure if there
is any connection to this band problem. Any ideas what the problem could be?
Help appreciated. Thanks

If you changed the theme of the display (control panel--display---theme) can
you get rid of the white band?

Thank you for your quick response.
Tried did not work. It does not look to be embedded in the screen, it goes
over the task bar not under if you know what i mean, also over the windows so
it makes it difficult to read. Thanks

Time to contact Toshiba to see about getting some warranty support to
replace the defective display.

Gut feel is that your display is failing. Common on Laptops due to opening
and closing cover.

Thanks for trying, I guess will have to contact Toshiba see what they have to
say,
Have a great day

Could be a bad driver for a column. Could be bad logic circuits. Could
be a bad connector. If under warranty, put in a claim. If not and only
if you're willing to lose the monitor (because you already have the
budget to buy a replacement), you could try disassembling the monitor to
remove and reseat the LCD panel but you'll probably do a lot more
damage.

It displays over top of the screen right, ie it covers the Start button? If so,
then that’s most likely a hardware issue. (Do laptops have screen adjustment
controls? eg width, pincusion, rotate, etc.)
