In many monitors there's a small fan in the middle near the rear of
the bottom surface of th emonitor that is prone to getting clogged
with dust. Perhaps this fan is causing your noise.

In most casses it's a coil vibrating. Open the monitor and press, with the
handle of an insulated schrewdriver, gentley on the coil surrounding the
tube and the transformers around your flybacktransformer. When you press the
right coil the sound will change. Than spray that coil with plasticspray,
thats liquide plastic that will get between the wires of the coil and
fixates the the vibrating wires.

And as for fans, it might be possible but 1 on 100 CRT-displays has a fan,
so i doubt that that will be the problem.

This is almost always a vibrating flyback transformer or, more likely,
a horizontal width or linearity coil, but sometimes it's the main
power supply transformer. Unless it's caused by an aging
electrolytic capacitor or a changed voltage, about the only thing you
can do is tighten up the coil or transformer by sticking toothpicks
between the coil and core or soaking it with varnish. With the latter
it's best to remove the part and dunk it in a can of warm varnish
overnight.

Or you could lower the Hertz of your monitor ??.

It worked for me, 100 Hertz i got this anoying ring, if i bashed the
Monitor it went away maybe, lowered it to 85htz went away.

Now my monitor gos yellow randonly, a good wack and its back :).

Also takes while to startup, power flickers for a 30 secs or so before
it turns on, i think its nearly dead, been doing that for months stil
works though.

New monitor is on the way, just got to pick a good 20 inch flatscreen.

Any recomendations ?

Bye.

Changing the horizontal scan frequency is a good way to try to
eliminate whistles.

Bad cable connection at the video card or monitor, sometimes even
inside
the monitor, such as at the picture tube. Real technicians spend a
lot of time tracking down and fixing bad solder joints.

The power supply could be marginal because of a dying electrolytic
capacitor.

I haven't bought a monitor in some time, and recently the market has
changed a lot, with most major makers discontinuing CRT development
and production. Try to get something with a Japanese brand CRT, but
realize that even many Japanese brand monitors no longer use them
(NEC, but Mitsubishis may still use them), although I've been told
that L-G tubes are OK. But those cheap Envision monitors seem to be
reliable and are often very cheap after large rebates.
