Which would you use?

I have the choice of ATI Radeon 9550 or Nvidia Geforce 5700v to run on
my machine and I am not certain which is best. My set-up is AMD 3200
+ Barton 512 cache. I am running XP and enjoy playing games and
running photographic software.
Anyone got any ideas/views on this matter please?

Check Tom's Hardware. He has a complete rundown of all video cards
including benchmarks.

card is better ATI or Nvidea????????
I dont have ESP but I predict the answer will be overwhelmingly in favor of
ATI

will give you a general idea of how 5700 compares to 9500 - get the exact
specs of your cards either from the retailers website or the manufacturers
for a more accurate comparison. I'd expect the Radeon to have marginally
better image quality for photographic applications.

It's "nVidia", too many people get this wrong, so I'm correcting it.

He's asking for opinions on a direct comparison between two specific GPU families. Not the manufacturers. Or can't you read?

Not everybody is completely incapable of objectivity.

The answer is that the 9550 will beat the 5700 sometimes, and that the 5700 will beat thee 9550 other times. DX9 will be quicker on the 9550, OpenGL on the 5700.

And how is he supposed to phrase his question on the NVidia newsgroup
buddy (It's spelled NVid*I*a, by the way)?

Maybe he has used ATI cards and wants to know what the darkside is
like?
