All other things being equal, which of these would be quicker:

2.4Ghz P4 (400Mhz) running with 1.0Gb of RDRAM (800Mhz)
2.8Ghz P4 (533Mhz) running with 1.0Gb of DDRAM (333Mhz)

Am I right in thinking that the increase in processor speed is going to be
offset by the slower DDR memory?

Just curious!

I'm not sure RDram 800 is that much faster than DDR333? the 400Mhz chips
sure weren't the high point of the P4's!

It's not! DDR is the reason RDRAM is going the way of the dinosaur. Even Intel
that once championed it so loudly has announced they won't be developing any
chipset beyond the 850 series to support Rambus.
