Hello,

I would like to put these four drives into my computer but don't know which
way to set them up for best efficiency.

1)240 GB 4.5ms 8MB 7200 drive
2)30 GB 9ms 2Mb 7200 drive----xp installed on this
3)1.2 Gb 11ms 1.2Mb 5400 drive
4)DVD drive 160ms 2Mb

I Just need to figure out how to set them using 2 IDE slots.
Thankyou awfully for your advice.

leave #2 where it is. and put the DVD on the opposite slot from where
the HD is that will be the source for copying files. That should reduce
the options you have.

IMO, If I was starting this from scratch, I would dump the 1.2 GB drive
altogether as it's size is not really large enough to make a difference and
it is so old it may not be compatible with the other drives.

30 GB drive should be your Primary Master drive. 240 GB should be your
Primary Slave. The DVD should be by itself on the Secondary channel (but if
you must use it the 1.2 GB drive should be the Secondary Master with the DVD
as the Secondary Slave.

To get a performance boost, I would clone the 30 GB drive onto the 240 GB
drive and use the 240 as the Primary by itself with the 30 GB as backup data
on the Secondary Master and the DVD as the Secondary Slave.
