Is there much of a difference between Mozilla Firefox v1.7.2 and Firefox
v0.9.3?
Can anyone recommend one over the other?
I want to change over from IE6.

Thanks

The products are called the Mozilla Suite and Firefox. They are both
excellent. It is largely a matter of personal preference. Try both and
see which you prefer. Firefox may have a "cuter" GUI and it may be more
user-friendly for newbies, but the Mozilla Suite is much more
configurable. If you already have email and news clients you're
satisfied with, Firefox may be enough. If not, be sure to try the Suite.

" much more configurable" - Is there a website that describes the advantages of
Mozilla compared to Firefox?

Thanks for that.
I have downloaded and am currently using Firefox. Only been using it for a
couple of hours and already I like it better than IE6.
Would have liked tab browsers though. Maybe this facility is in there
somewhere?
Will google for help and tips on this browser.
May also take your advise and try the Mozilla Suite as I would like to
replace OE too.
Thanks again for the reply.

Tabbed browsing features can be found in the Firefox extensions: Tools/
Extensions; when the Extensions box opens click on the "Get more
Extensions" link and it will bring you to the Firefox Extensions page.
You'll find Tabbed Browsing along with many other useful extensions here.

Thanks.
I managed that but new links don't open in tabs. Obviously I'm doing
something wrong!
Been in Tools/Options/Advanced/Browsing and checked 'select newtabs from
links' but in opens in a window instead.
Maybe another setting somewhere?
I shall moosy along to the Extensions page you recommend and see if there is
something there.
Cheers

There are a lot of good official and unofficial support sites. One that
helped me a lot is http://mozilla.gunnars.net/ But it boils down to
downloading both programs, studying and comparing the options, and
deciding which better meets your needs. The Suite is undoubtedly
geekier, but the email program sure does load fast from within the suite
and play nice with the browser.

Thanks.

Tools-->Extensions-->Tabbed Browser Extensions -->Options-->

I don't think that's accurate. Rather Mozilla suite "seems" easier to
configure because most of the options are exposed in the GUI. For firefox
you can get most of the same stuff, but you have to type "about:Config"
in your location bar, then know what strings to change.

Wow, that was something! Thanks

Is there any sort of information on this?

I am really pretty happy with Firefox as it stands, though I was appalled
at the dismal GUI configuration.

My particular want is for it to make a noise when a download is complete
(like IE!), but there seems nothing there in the GUI -or indeed in the
about:config page.

Is there any way, please?

Thanks, that's a good site for Mozilla. In another thread, I mentioned I had tried
Moz 1.5 about 8 months ago. It was a big program in my terms, and the GUI was IMO
like a first attempt at programming. I saw large blank areas on the screen, as the
default. It must have improved since than, but I find FF and TB fit my needs quite
well, which is, after all, the whole idea. I have no problem calling up FF when I
click on a hot link in TB.

I love TabBrowser Extension, it adds all the options you could ask for.
I've got it set so that new pages always open in a new tab, I can drag-and-
drop to change their order, right-clicking gives a menu full of options.

Middle click the link, I believe the default Firefox action is to open the
link in a tab. If you happen to be using a 2 button mouse, then I dunno
sorry.
