I'm making my essay about embedded windows.

I'm looking for al information about it. First of all, I have to compare
several systems and buy something which can operate on embedded windows. So
I'm looking for a kind of single board computer system. Any proposals for
possible systems?

I'd like to receive the prices of the different systems and the
specifications of i all and of course where I can order it

Thanks in advance.

Depends on what you mean by "embedded windows" There is Windows XP Embedded,
and Windows CE.NET. If you need to evaluate both the only option is an x86
PC architecture as that is required by Windows XP Embedded. Windows CE.NET
supports a variety of processors and architectures including a PC.

yes, indeed, I need to evaluate both systems. So I need an x86 system, these
are the systems I already found, but I'm not sure it will work on all
systems:

any other proposals? In fact I can install both operating systems on a
normal PC, but they really want to see it working on an single board
computer

Three are literally hundreds of useable SBCs ranging in size, feature sets
and price. I've used boards form, ARCOM, AMPRO, AAEON and a couple others I
can't remember the names of... It would make your life a LOT easier if the
board vendor has a BSP for Windows CE.NET and Windows XP drivers for any
special hardware on the board. Otherwise you will be writing drivers or not
using that functionality.

Steve is right. In any case if you are reaching out for a board look
out for BSP's first. It would be beter if you go for for Board kit many
manufactureers are making. It would provide all the drivers and other
accessories.
Board Cirrus EP7312 should dofine for CE which includes ARM.However if
to facilitate XPE then you need to chck out a better x86 board.

thanks for your advice, but can someone just say, "take this board, it wil
work with both versions of windows" or has nobody done this ever before?

Dries,

The Lanner EM351A works great with both Windows CE 4.2 and Windows NT, and
I'd expect XP Embedded is no problem, either (IIRC, Windows XP drivers come
on the CD that ships with the board).

The only caveat I have is that the CF card slot is for memory devices only
(NAND Flash, MicroDrive, etc.). They make another similar board with a full
PC Card implementation (EM 535), but I've not used that one personally
before.

There's a development system available with RAM, chassis, etc. You can
order from Arrow or direct at lanner-usa.com. Sooner or later, I'm going to
have to ask those guys if I can get a commission...

All of the boards I mentioned work. It depends on the features of the board
you need for your system.
