Which Scanner?

I would appreciate your advise in order to help me decide between the
following scanners and manufacturers:

Epson 2580

or

Canon Canoscan 4200F

For those of you who have had either one of the above, any comments
would be useful.

I know that the Canon is faster than the Epson, but does that really
make that much difference? Which of the above has better software in
terms of controlling the scanner and the scan quality?

Neither software is great, both do the same thing but I'll give Epson the
nod. Canon ScanGear is just a bit more clunky.
Scan quality, depends what you scan.... if photos they'll both do just as
good as the other. If the odd slide/neg I'll give Canon the nod.
